About Marc

I am a curious person who loves reading and is passionate about history.

I enjoy discovering the regions where I live. I have been living in Gravelines for 23 years and am keen to help others discover this beautiful coastal town. Gravelines has a rich history.

I offer two walks, which I can do in French and Spanish.

Gravelines through the centuries

Discover the iconic sites of this town, listed among France’s Most Beautiful Detours.

We will wander through the winding streets of the walled city to observe the medieval remains from different periods of the Grand Siècle, between Spanish Flanders and the reconquest by Louis XIV’s troops, who entrusted Vauban with the task of perfecting a defensive system that would ultimately establish a permanent French presence in these northern lands!

A brief detour through history will take us to the Second World War.

Embark on a beautiful and epic historical journey!

Gravelines and its coastline

A walk through the green spaces and dunes of Petit-Fort-Philippe.

We will explore the natural areas and World War II relics by bicycle, enjoying the dunes, a channel and a jetty bathed in the salty spray of the North Sea.

The north-westerly wind will carry us to unspoilt nature where the tracks of foxes, migratory birds and wild geese will delight lovers of places where marram grass invades the coastline.
