Port Museum

Commerce raiding, Iceland cod fishing, carnaval (Mardi Gras), Jean Bart, stevedoring, memories of stopovers and ports of call, the largest 3-master in France open to the public… so many things await to be discovered at the Harbour Museum of Dunkirk!

With contents adapted to all audiences, the Museum will take you on a journey through centuries, discovering the city of Dunkirk and its harbour.

Welcome aboard!

Displayed in a former 19th century tobacco warehouse on the quai de la Citadelle, the Musée Portuaire’s collections give visitors a fascinating insight into the world of a large port, from both a historical and contemporary perspective.

Opposite the museum, three ships are moored: the Duchesse Anne three-master, the Sandettie light vessel (both listed as historic monuments) and the Guilde barge all add to the quayside museum visit, offering visitors the chance to really immerse themselves in the lives of sailors and boatmen.
