The gothic choir of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Bourbourg is now open to visitors after being closed for 60 years!
As part of its restoration, the French Ministry of Culture and Communications (Fine Arts Commission - Nord-Pas de Calais regional department) initiated the state-commissioned "Chapel of Light" (Le chœur de lumière), entrusted to the sculptor Sir Anthony Caro.
The "Chapel of Light" is made up of 15 pieces, created for the restored gothic choir of the Saint-Jean Baptiste church in Bourbourg. An exceptional encounter with contemporary art, architecture, heritage and the sacred.

The most significant state-commissioned work of contemporary art of the last 20 years, "The Chapel of Light" is a monumental project composed of 15 sculptures spread over gothic choir's 450m² space.
Located in the St Jean-Baptiste church in Bourbourg, come and discover this magnificent work of art, created by the English artist Sir Anthony Caro, father of contemporary modern sculpture.
A visitors' centre is located next to the town hall.
